PostSubject: How to Add Course To Riivo Via XML   Wed Jul 21, 2010 12:28 am

Recently, peoples have been begging for Bean to update his riivolution so I decided to make this thread. Its actually not that hard.

Part I

Adding a new course.

1. Open mkwiiriivo in the riivolution folder with notepad.
2. Find the last course like this one.

<option id="boardcross_course" name="DK Summit" default="1">
<choice name="Haunted Woods">
<patch id="boardcross_course_haunted_woods" />
</choice>
</option>

3. Delete all the variables. ex. You can just copy and paste this.

<option id=" " name=" " default="1">
<choice name=" ">
<patch id=" " />
</choice>
</option>

4. Replace the option id with the course that is getting replaced(My Stuff folder style). Put the name of the course that you are gonna replace(Actual name) and the one that is going to replace it. example using GCN Rainbow road.

<option id="shopping_course" name="Coconut Mall" default="1">
<choice name="GCN Rainbow Road">
<patch id=" " />
</choice>
</option>

5. On Patch id, put in the course that gets replaced and the CT name(with _ as spaces). ex.

<option id="shopping_course" name="Coconut Mall" default="1">
<choice name="GCN Rainbow Road">
<patch id="shopping_course_gcn_rainbow_road" />
</choice>
</option>

6. Just put that right after the last one. Remember, there is a </section> below the last one. Don't erase that. Make a third page if you need more room. There are 12 courses per page. You are gonna need to do that yourself, sadly.

7. Scroll down until you see this. Sorry, I had to make them tiny.

<patch id="boardcross_course_haunted_woods">
<file disc="/Race/Course/boardcross_course.szs" external="/mkwii/boardcross_course/haunted_woods.szs" />
<file disc="/Race/Course/boardcross_course_d.szs" external="/mkwii/boardcross_course/haunted_woods.szs" />
</patch>

8. Change the patch id to what you put earlier. On the file disc just change the boardcross_course.szs to whatever course your using. Do the same with the external. And on the second file disc do everything the same but add _d right before the .szs. Don't add _d to the external because there are no multiplayer for it.

9. Go back to the root of the SD card and open the mkwii folder. Make a new folder according to what you put earlier without the .szs. (It should be shopping_course)
Put in the szs file in there.

10. Open riivolution on the wii. You should see one course disabled on the second page if you only added one course. Enable it and start. This should work! Yay!

Part II

What if two CTs replace the same course?!?

1. Follow part one but you can have more than 12 courses in one page now if the two option IDs are the same.
2. Do the same with the file disc and all that stuff.
3. When you get to step 9, just put the szs files in the same folder.
4. When you open riivo on the wii, you should see only ONE new course but when you click on it, the CT name changes!!!

Part III

Music hax!!

1. To add music hacks to riivo, use this format.

<option id="snowboard32" name="DK Summit Music" default="1">
<choice name="HW Custom Music">
<patch id="snowboard32_HW_custom_music" />
</choice>
</option>

2. Make a new section on the xml(use logic please) and add the above in there.

3. Go to the file disc part and at the bottom of the file disc and externals
put this in.

<patch id="snowboard32_HW_custom_music">
<file disc="/sound/strm/n_snowboard32_n.brstm" external="/mkwii/snowboard32/HW_custom_music_n.brstm" />
<file disc="/sound/strm/n_snowboard32_f.brstm" external="/mkwii/snowboard32/HW_custom_music_f.brstm" />
</patch>

4. Use logic to change that into what you want(See the track/replay disable for the brstm names and more help.

Make a folder on the mkwii folder and name it whatever you put as the option ID (first step).

5. Put the brstms in that folder. Remember, theres a normal lap one and a final lap one. (_f for final and _n for normal).

6. Go to your new section and you can now enable and disable them individually!

Very Happy

PM me (Chaoz) if you need any help.

If 2 Custom Tracks replace the same track, the default should be 0, not 1

Actually 1 just takes you to the first Custom Track in the choice list, even when you picked the second choice, I've tested it before, so don't ask. Razz

It's no good just putting zero, replace the "1" in the Patch.

When I try adding 2 courses in one, I don't get the option to change which course I want to play, instead, it makes a whole new line for my course. So no arrows to go Course 1 -> Course 2 -> Disable. It goes Course 1 -> Disable and Course 2 -> Disable.

You have to look at the No Music Patch, It provides an example for patching over a track with more than one custom track. Razz

Nahh, I got it. It was that I was putting the two in different sections. When I put it in the same section, it worked.

Yep. Is it possible that some courses might be incompatible/not working if they replace certain courses?

XML is the best way for File Patching on Riivo. I did it with another game. You want to know.
