PostSubject: Object (not .obj) importing problems   Sat Sep 11, 2010 8:44 pm

Alright, so I'm remaking SNES Vanilla Lake 1. I've built the course into Moo Moo Meadows (thats the only level that can support the complexity of the track's polygons), but the track requires pipes from SNES Mario Circuit 3 and falling blocks from SNES Ghost Valley 2. So, I replaced Monty Moles with pipes and cows with the falling blocks. I know I have to change the 'Type' in the .kmp, but the pipe's 'type' is dokan_sfc.brres in SNES MC3's .kmp, not a number. The falling blocks have a number, so that's good. Anyways, when I try to play the course, my wii freezes. I suspect this has something to do with it because I've triple checked everything in the .kmp, course model, etc. and everything looks fine. If you know a number value for the pipe, or can help at all, please reply.

You must first download the SZS Explorer.

http://chadderz.is-a-geek.com/ctools/setup.exe

Then import the dokan_sfc.brres (and the falling blocks) into the course you want it in (in this case Moo Moo Meadows). You can find this under the "." file of the course you importing from (in this case SNES Mario Circuit 3 & SNES GV2).

Then open up SZS Modifier and change the type in the kmp. You may need to close out of the kmp and open it again to make the changes appear.

No its not.In SZS Modifier you can see the file tree of all also in SZS Explorer.but with SZS Modi. you can only export/import for example the course.kcl or a .brres file as raw data.In SZS Expl. you can exactly export as the right file name and also import.Im not sure if the following right but you can create new files to import.Im not sure if this is right but SZS Expl. can help you alot.

oh true, true. explorer also allows you to import any file (such as course_model) even if it's bigger than the original! thanks, now I won't have to use moo moo meadows for every course I make Very Happy

Also, what's good is you can add stuff to the kmp (pokey, chain chomp, mushrooms, etc.) without hex editing! Maybe I should make a tutorial...

More than that, there should be a KMP hex code reference list in another topic Wink
